Królestwo Bez Kresu

Królestwo Bez Kresu – Hive blockchain at the heart of a Kraków enclave

We designed and implemented a web application based on the Hive blockchain for Kraków's Królestwo Bez Kresu. We automated event registration, Rycar token management and community communication. See the results.

About Królestwo Bez Kresu

Królestwo Bez Kresu is an independent, non-commercial venue at 18 Biskupia Street in Kraków. It combines the functions of a meeting place, a grassroots cultural centre, a café and tea room, as well as a library and a coworking space. The key to its operation is an engaged community that supports the venue's functioning on a volunteer basis. The foundation of the organisation is the Hive blockchain, and the reward for engagement is its own Rycar token (RCR).

Challenge

How to simplify life around the blockchain?

Królestwo Bez Kresu's activity was closely tied to the Hive blockchain: events were published as posts, and volunteers were rewarded with Rycar tokens. However, most operations were performed manually, which was tedious and error-prone. A tool was needed to make management easier and open the application to guests – without the cryptographic baggage.

For years, managing the community required manually verifying wallet balances, calculating changes and fighting the outdated interface of our previous tool. On top of that, we were heavily constrained by the capabilities of the existing interfaces for the Hive blockchain. It worked, but it was tedious and error-prone. We needed a tool that would take that burden off our shoulders and simplify life for the whole community.

Manual event registration

Publishing events as posts on the blockchain required manual work

Tedious token management

Granting and deducting Rycar tokens required manually counting the wallet balance

Scattered communication

News from the Kingdom was hard to follow without switching between the application and the Hive platform

Secure authorisation

Blockchain keys had to stay secure, while login had to be simple for guests

Our solutions

One application as a mirror of the blockchain

We designed a dedicated web application in which the Hive blockchain remained the source of truth, while a local PostgreSQL database became its faithful mirror. All operations – from publishing events to transferring tokens – happen as transactions on the chain, and the application reads and presents them in a friendly form.

Technologies used

We built the application in TypeScript on React Router v7 with the Bun runtime and Shadcn/ui for rapid interface prototyping. We deployed everything on our own infrastructure via GitHub CI/CD, Docker Compose and Coolify.

Project timeline

The project proceeded in five stages – from understanding the specifics of how the Kingdom operates to deployment and maintenance.

1

Discovery

Analysing the KBK operating model and mapping processes onto the Hive blockchain

2

UX/UI design

Rapid interface prototyping using Shadcn/ui

3

Implementation

Building the News, tokens, profiles and ranking modules, and integrating with Hive Keychain

4

Deployment

GitHub CI/CD pipeline, Docker containerization and deployment via Coolify

5

Maintenance

Ongoing technical support and iterations based on community feedback

Application state updated in near real time

The application ran for several months, automating event registration, Rycar token management and community communication. We introduced gamification elements in the form of a ranking of token holders. Over time, Królestwo Bez Kresu decided to gradually move away from the Hive blockchain due to complaints about the blockchain itself and its community – the application then served as a bridge in that transition.

Thanks to the support of the experts at Tesserakt, the activity of Kraków's Królestwo Bez Kresu gained a solid foundation in the form of a modern web application using blockchain technology. We were also able to automate many cumbersome processes, such as building a knowledge base, newsletter campaigns or organising the work of volunteers.
